Hi folks. For some time, I have been considering a few changes to the look of Poasters. You have probably noticed the new blue and gold "P buttons" that replace the green diamonds. The current logo (top left of the forum) incorporates a cheerleader for historical (and hysterical) reasons, which is a bizarre non-sequitur to most people who weren't participating in Poasters several years ago.

I would like for our logo to identify what Poasters is and who we are.
QuotePoasters is an open forum to discuss problems, solutions, reviews, and opinions related to personal computers.
So, here is my proposal for a new logo. Like the old logo, it has big Poasters lettering. Rather than a cheerleader, it has a bulletin board with various folks poasting reviews, discussing computers, and telling a few jokes.

Your feedback is welcome. Specifically:
Do we really want to retire the cheerleader?
Is the bulletin board scene a good idea?
Are the colors good?
Why do we have to endure that tyrant Neon's crappy art?

You are welcome to submit ideas for modification of this logo, or original artwork. Please keep in mind the criteria outlined above.

Hey

I think there should be more blue in the Poasters writing, so more half and half.

Not sure we need the cheerleader gif anymore, although it would be nice if the cheerleader popped in.

I agree more blue in the letters; heck all blue would be good with me.
Perhaps the lettering split and the graphics inserted in the middle?

Where have I seen the old professor-looking guy before?
Is that you Neon?

I must say though, that bulletin board looks somewhat like a ping-pong table.

Here are a couple of old pics that I saved that may or may not be appropriate.

OK fellas, I blowed it up. Er, blued it up.

pat, I would also like for the real cheerleader to make an appearance. By changing out the gif, I mean no disrespect, it's just that every one of my friends and family that sees the logo wonders why it's there. There is very little space for a logo at the top of the page, so it isn't possible to put the graphics between the lettering. In fact, I had the lettering on the bulletin board at first, but the letters weren't big enough.

The professor-looking guy is not actually me - LOL, do you think I would actually put my likeness up there? Besides, I poasted my photo a long time ago, and don't look quite like that. Nope, the prof is just some clipart guy in a white coat.

Ping-pong table? I don't see it...

Here's another one, with fancy 3D effect letters. I think it is too dark, but maybe some like it.

The "Computer Forums" text in the first logo looks better than that the last two.  Maybe it's down to dithering.

I think I like all blue text, but I tell ya what.
Put it on a pizza and lets see how it looks. :)

Hello.  I'm usually not found here, but it's ok as Neon sent me to vent I mean share my opinions.  On something, or other.  I'm not entirely sure what.

Ok; okay.  I'll give it a go.  Here's my vote:

* Blue. Sure.
* Keep your computer in Ace condition?  I'm not sure if I know what that means.  My computer is in fine shape, mostly because it was built that way and I haven't done enough to mess it up as yet.  If you mean the shape Ace is in, I gotta wonder.  I ran the sloping streets of Falls Church, and my knees were killing me.  Also, that dang corn on my little toe that keeps popping up.  Huh.  Popping corn.  That sounds weird, doesn't it.

* Like I said, go with Blue.
* Retire her, sure.  She's had a tough life ever since she was born left-legged.  Probably is confusing to any newcomers but shoot, what here isn't.
* Not on a pizza.
* Stupid bouncing idiot Jester from New Orleans... who needed to see that again.  Wild eyed freak.
* I don't know if you want that dang jingle-belled Jester thingy popping up on the board with Professor Poast.  But I guess it says something.

So; go with it.  Great stuff.  Wonderful, talented improvements.  Wish I'd made them.  That'd be the day.

ACe; maybe when people could link here, the screen could go black... with a countdown showing... and then the jouncing idiot bouncing Jester could pop up, full screen sized, with a scream.  That'd get their dang attention.
Ring bells for service.

Neon

Here's one more, with Gold-N-Topt letters. If nobody objects, I will probably go with this one.

Well Neon, that looks good up there.

Professor Poaster holding onto the puter, the mischievous young rascal throwing darts at the poaster board. Even the curly headed lad trying to figure out what the heck a jester has to do with computer help. ::)

Yea, I like it. :)

Except, the lad in the middle is not throwing darts at the Athlon, he's just reaching up for a closer look. By the way, that is a photo of my own Palomino. Bonus marks if you can read which stepping it is. Double bonus if you can guess which computer the Prof is about to poast his review of there.

An Amd processor, gosh I thought it was a bulletin board. Don't I feel foolish.  :-[
It's clear now though, well since you told me what I'm looking at. Count me out on reading anything on the top.

Haha, that's Ok. Maybe I should have photographed it more from the top instead of the side. Of course, there is no way to read any codes on the top since the image has been shrunken a lot. The Prof there is about to poast a review of my Quantex computer. That's how it looked in about 1998 - except a lot bigger.
