Is there an issue with controlling where or how data is stored with these high speed drives?

I use diskkeeper lite which has a daily warning about defragmentation.  While I was using a WD 80g 7200 HD, the typical message was 1k to 2k of fragments.  Since installing the 10,000 rpm HD with a fresh install of XP pro, the daily fragment number ranges from 22,000 to the high 30ks.  And typically I use the machine for a short while in the morning and an hour or so after work.  Weekend usage is much higher.

Any thoughts?

The short answer seems to have been a low level virus.   Yesterday AVG produced a warning when I was promted to download Flash Player while trying to log on to CNBC.  A couple scans with A/Vs, identified 3 copies of a trojan in the internet temp files which I deleted along with many other entries.

This morning's Diskkeeper warning was under 1k of fragments.
