Rossini--William Tell Overture, Excellent Video

I got this off Youtube.  This is the only performance of William Tell I have been able to see.  All others were audios on LP 33's.  I guess one reason i like it is that the orchestra seems to really be enjoying it, bouncing umbrellas in the rain and all.  It is also superb playing.  There are two parts to this.  I tried using Nero to eliminate the half second repeat between clips, but whoever uploaded this video did a such a good job that I could not improve it.

The one thing I have never been able to do is follow a master conductor because I can never see just where the downbeat is.  No one else seems to have a problem.  Maybe my eyes are dyslexic.  Perhaps Neon could fix my problem in locating the downbeat.   ;D

This doesn't begin to compare with Whizbang's find, but it's still enjoyable:

Sorry about the wrong "pew" for the video.  I don't eat out much and don't know how to act in the "Dinner" section.   :-[

I also downloaded the Glen Campbell version earlier for my sister-in-law in Nashville, Arkansas.  Glen Campbell appears in concert there on occasion at the amphitheater.

I didn't try the Isabella Rossellini version of the William Tell overture yet, but I did get through the Glen Campbell one.  I've played things off the top of my head, but not quite like that.  I'll probably be humming that all day, now.  Likely to be out of breath all day, too.

Ace; like that's anything new, Kemo Sabay.
Ring bells for service.

On Part 2, at about 2:42 mins, I figured out what it was that distracted the conductor.

If you turn up your speakers and listen carefully, it's easy to pick it out.

Shoot, you would do that to me.  Even with OnSpeed plus Earthlink cranked up to "fuzzy photo speed" 2:42 takes about 25 minutes download to get to...

I know it's a good thing Glen was wireless, because otherwise he'd have taken out the violin section plus a bunch of music stands with the cord.

Ace; I'm not used to listening carefully.

I wouldn't mind finding this on DVD. With surround sound and no video lag, it must be incredible.

I think either Tonto or Kemo Sabay entered about then, or maybe a redneck Arkie with a war whoop.   ;D  What I really liked is that the conductor took it in stride with a very big grin.  That may be why the music sounds so fresh and uninhibited.  The conductor is "cool."   8)  Quality of music is the best I have heard on the Internet along with the very best video.  I would like to be able to get this one on DivX or other HD format, but the DVD would be around 3 Gbytes on quality video.  Jake Shimabukuro playing Dragon is 430 Mbytes on DivX download.
