Anyone ever fixed an old computer?

Has anyone upgraded a old computer to make it be able to surf the net?

I have a packardbell 410

I have done some upgrades to it ( my brother did most of it)

1. Upgraded the hard drive to 2 gigabytes
2. Added 16mb of RAM
3. Added internet surfing chip ( not sure what proper name it was but i needed it surf th enet)
4. alot of software upgrades

I was just wondering if anyone else has had success.

It sounds like a good challenge. A lot of times people just throw away old computers, but often they can be made into useful second systems that serve any variety of functions. For example, file server, internet firewall, or web browser / email desktop.

I had a Dell 486 with the latest ultra 14.4k modem. Man those were the days. ;)
