Title: Expiration date on injet cartridges
Post by: LugwidVanB on July 29, 2009, 20:01 hrs
I'm seeing a lot of hp deskjet cartridges for sale on craigslist that are cheap. In the 10-15 range. I just emailed someone with a # 78 color cartridge for the printer I have. He said the cartridge has never been opened and has a date on the side of July 2003. Does anyone know if this is an expiration date or how long the cartridges are good for? Thanks,

Tom

I wouldn't buy inkjet cartridges that old as it is a gamble to use HP "expired" inkjet cartridges. There are some reports that the HP printers will reject them due to a chip on the cartridge recording the manufacture date. I don't believe the #78 cartridge has a chip, but I would still stay away from it.

Edit: Corrected a spelling error. Maybe I should proof read more?

I concur with Mrak. That is way too old. I wouldn't pay 50 cents for it even if he delivered it to my door.
