YOUR AMERICAN IDOL

Last year's winner was Jordan Sparks. I did see the last two or three weeks of last years AI. Kathy was two years ago and finished second to Taylor Hicks. I think Kathy should have won that year. I think that Clay should have won over Rubin several years ago.

Mark H; I got my wish in that stripper boy is now a bad memory gone away.

Yes, David H the nekky boy is gone, but still forgotten.  Katherine McPhee still looks and sounds like she's struggling to figure just what she's about... a bit of a country twang in her voice, and a skirt that stopped about mid-waist.  I hope the bottom 3 holds true, since those were the ones I found least interesting.  Including Roumelade or whatever her name is, the little Phillipino.  Fillipino.  Phil.  As the new bottom third.

Taylor Hicks.  What a legend.  "Coming to a county fair near you"...

You know, a couple more stupid things about AI.  First off, that's pretty funny itself.  If there is any intelligence on that show, it's artificial.  Secondly; these losers did one lousy song.  Hence, they're soon to leave.  So they get to perform the lousy song, in the same lousy way, again.  Let's just drive that point home.. Could CountryKristy maybe SLOWDOWN the dang 8 days, as a change up? Could David not overemote?  Could Syesha quit slapping her thigh and maybe start in pitch, the second go-round?  Nah...

Ace; "As a special guest, we now present the Large Girl, last year's Idol, Jordin Sparks!"  Her tour can be "Jordin Sparks: At Large."  heh.

Mark H

I can't figure out why the bottom 3 gets more air time singing their song for a second time. What happened to just a farewell song by the departed? Now we have to hear the 3 worst performances again unless America got it wrong, which they didn't in this case.

I guess I'd put last night's Idol performances under the headline "Nothing matters, and what if it did."

What a mess.  Bless little David Archuleta, as he seemed to actually look and sound like he knew what he was doing.  And I liked Carly's low register Blackbird.  Although I think she blanked out on the lyrics at the point she was figuring to build to a climax.  I can't say anyone else deserves to live.

Michael J's compressing "A Day In The Life" to "About a Minute, In The Life" was ridiculous.  It's like a singer (actually, himself) trying to do Bohemian Rhapsody solo, and only 1/3 of it.  And I can't understand why they didn't rip him for butchering the lyrics, as well...  I think he actually made up a word, as filler, when he went blank.

Sunshine Brooke; yech. She looked like an idiot.  Chikezie's new "thing" of slow then/fast-bluegrass-hick is already old.  Amanda is repetitious.  And the USSR was choppy.  Kristy? Buh bye.  Ramilamadingdong?  Yawn.  She just sounds throaty when she does uptempo.  Jason should stay in his bedroom at midnight and just perform then, and there.  David; should have been on Rockstar; 1/3 guitar, 1/3 talkbox, 1/3 singing, to the point that he's really not paying attention to singing.  Syesha is a cipher.

Amanda should have done Strawberry Fields.  Or "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window."  Michael should have tried "Lovely Rita."  Or Penny Lane.

Pretty much anyone could have been the Walrus.

Ace; googoobachoo.

Including Simon!  We could really end the season now without missing anything except maybe a couple of painful hours.

Maybe next week will feature "The Sean Lennon and Ringo Starr Songbook."  Oh, and some Yoko Ono tunes.

Hey J, what set did you get?  I disremember.  I'm thinking of sending for a HDTV LCD, to avoid shipping and sales tax.  I've been looking to have at least one digital in place soon...

I'm really frustrated with Michael Johns on Idol: the guy should be taking the show over but he keeps doing weird things and stepping down.  It'd be funny if David A. wins and they don't know what to do with him then (like Taylor Hicks).

Ace; he could probably do a show in Vegas...

Heck, Wayne Newton was only a young boy when he started.  Well, not now, but back then.  And, that tiger that attacked Roy (in an affectionate way) probably isn't any older.  I'm just trying to figure where a "mature" teenage crooner could perform, and who'd care.  Maybe he could open for Michael Buble.

Ace; I just like saying "Buble"...

Goes up where..?

I hope he doesn't go up here.   I mean, it's not like Michiana has really gotten into spring.  Sure, we've got Robins.. but they could bust a beak on the turf here.  Maybe he could get the lead in "High School Musical, VIII" or whatever that's up to now.

ace; people have told me I should go up.

Ok, but you mispelled "adieu."  I wouldn't even try French, personally.  After watching Jason butcher it singing "Michelle" last night.

Ace; I wonder if you can blame an old keyboard for that..
Ring bells for service.

Bill

Sure you can. You can blame anything or one for anything.  As in, last night's terrible performances were really the Beetles' fault.  Dang songs are too hard and, some were boring and forgettable.  I certain you get the drift.

Ace

Well, ok... good.  That could work out pretty well, if anyone anywhere can be blamed for anything, anyhow.

Yeah, some of them are hard, and boring.  Like "Everybody's Got Something To Hide, Except for Me and My Keyboard."  That's a toughie.  Oh, and "Paperback Typist."  That's not easy.

"I Want To Hold Your Mouse"... that was pretty terrible.  Oh, and "I Feel Fined" (Scuzzy's favorite). "Baby's In Black" (when you didn't go with the putty colored add-ons).  P.I. S Love You.  Yes It Is (No, It's Not).

Ace; watch, this will be "No Reply."

Not sorry to see the skunk-haired singing nurse leave tonight.  Even if her name did rhyme with Ace's favorite animal...

Edit: this poast was from Linda, when she used my computer while watching American Idol.

LinS here...
Carly deserved to make it through to the next round. Jason didn't. He hasn't impressed me since he did "Hallelujah"  a couple of weeks ago. I don't understand the appeal of Ramiele. That little girl act wears on you. Michael Johns needs to step up, Kristy needs to slow down and Chikeze needs to take it easy.

Amanda is now gone, which is what I wanted. Now that she is gone, I will kind of miss her. She had no tattoos, no odd piercings and was genuine. I think Kristy should have gone home, but I will settle for Amanda going home.

Mark H; Carly should have never been in the bottom three.
Enjoy the nature that is around you rather than destroying it.

Ace

Geez Louise, this thing's getting crowded.  I'm glad Mark moved it to a new page to make room.  People must watch this show.

Amanda Panda (criminy, it makes me cringe just to keyboard it) sounded her death knell when Simon suggested she should try something different than rocking out repetitiously and she replied this was her minute and a half to show people what her act is about.  Which, I guess means if you ever see her perform you're gonna get a bunch of midtempo and faster rock songs that pretty much sound the same with her rasping in a crouch.  Like I said, she shoulda tried Strawberry Fields as a changeup and maybe show some range.

You know, the irony is it seems people DO listen to the judges... even Simon.  He stated Carly's blackbird was a dumb choice of song, and although she defended it well (and performed it decently) it may have stuck as a criticism.   And, I for one find Jason obnoxious.  Anyone who leers and works the "sensitive, yet goofy guy here" act (with that little "catch" in his voice in every verse) that much gets on my nerves.  Maybe he and Ramiela can run off together.

Ace; far off.  I hope they go up.

My SQUIRRELS!! are in peanut heaven.  But if that goofy dreaded doofus shows up in my backyard I'm throwning a brick at him.

I've never seen the "Top 10" tour anywhere in a neighborhood near me.  Shoot, Amanda is in Indiana.  I could probably drive down to her neighborhood biker bar and catch her act.

Ace; first I gotta get a bike.  I sold my Schwinn to my brother.

I haven't contributed to this thread so far because I loathe these "reality" shows in all of their forms and refuse to watch them.  Therefore, I haven't a clue who or what you are talking about.

However, I would just like to apologise for Simon Cowell and the freak-shows that he seems to be exporting to you and the rest of the TV-watching world.  Enjoy!

Buff; you are getting your own back by exporting Britney and Paris Hilton to us though.......

Oh, just like you dang British guys and your superior attitude... "Oh, I loathe reality TV and shan't bother to understand that which you are discussing so vehemently.  I shall now go back to my viewing of "Sideways" and partaking of a pleasant English merlot I happened upon today, at market."

Criminy, just because you're better than us doesn't make you "superior" you know...

Ok. Hold it.  That didn't come out right  What I meant to say was there's no reality like our reality; no reality we know.  Plus, Simon Cowell admitted Americans are better singers than you "Over There."  Which was very nice of him, to say.  Honestly, I don't agree with him, especially when the two best singers on our AMERICAN dang idol are from Ireland and Australia.

You know, though, as a couple places you guys pretty much ruled, I guess America is sort of of that nature, too.  So, in a way, we're all just colonial competitions.  I will say that what I've seen of Europe's American Idol show that I liked the performers there, better, too.

Johnny's right on it being unreal.  That these people actually expect a career in entertainment, after this, is pretty not real.  Shoot, the winners disappear soon after, let alone the losers...

And, look, Paris is French.  So don't go blaming us for her.

Personally, I like Simon best.  I wish he could control himself better, and not get into the low-road arguments.  I think Randy and especially Paula both have a pretty limited view of the business side, from their limited experience.  And, they're easily distracted on the show and miss the happenings ("That was pitchy.. I don't know, dog" and "But you look wonderful tonight! Even if you can't sing, at all!").  I really think Simon can't HEAR what's going on, sometimes... notice how he looks at Paula and goes "huh?" when someone says something toward or about him?  I wonder if he can hear well, when they do perform.

Ace; if I don't watch reality tv I wouldn't have any in my life.

LinS

Hello All,

I for one (if that were possible) would be sorry to see Simon Cowell leave the show.  He epitomizes a time long since gone, when people actually spoke their minds without worrying about how politically correct they were. I much prefer his comments, however acerbic, to those of Randaula, or if you prefer, Pandy, or (you know where this is going) to Panda.

LinS; Sorry Ace.

Ace

Hi LinS,
Wow that confused me for a minute (oh, like that took some doing..) I thought you were apologizing for agreeing with me that Simon is more worth keeping than the other two.  Usually, I need to apologize if someone agrees with me.

Then I saw you had to say the "P" word, and like Scuzzy watching cops and robbers in the movies I had to turn away in disgust.  Also, I'm never sure who you people are.  There've been LinS poasting under "JimS" and one Jim speaking for the rest of them and "JoeS" and it's hard to keep up with them.  At least there's just one of me, and sometimes that's too much.

You know, two words that are waaaay overused these days are "disgusted" (usually in Voice of People rants) and "amazed."  I don't think people mean "disgusted" typically; seems more like "dismayed" "angered" "outraged" "annoyed" "shocked" would be more in line.  And "amazed" and "amazing".. criminy, it's become the defacto adverb of the year.  No matter what it was, it was "amazing."  I mean, sure, Johnny is amazing but I don't know of that many other things that qualify.  It's as overused as "Oh My G.." and "Oh My Gosh" on Home Makeover when they walk around the new house.

Ace; I only repeat myself enough to boost my poast totals.

Hi Ace,

I was apologizing for use of the "P" word. But I couldn't resist morphing those two names, given the "P"erfect result.

LinS; Wait till DanS joins. Then Ace will be really confused.

Ace

Well, sure.  I like Morph.

Ace; I like Mindy, too.

So will Christy Cook survive the bottom two every week all the way to the championship? Stay tuned to American Idol

Mark H; Another one to bite the dust this week.
Enjoy the nature that is around you rather than destroying it.

Mark H

Fox says that as long as the contestants are in the USA legally, they can compete. This means that if Putin decided to get a USA visa, he could be on American Idol.

Mark H; A foreign born person can't be a US president, but they can be our American Idol.
Enjoy the nature that is around you rather than destroying it.

Ace

You know, Putin was in the Paul McCartney concert video from Russia... I don't think he'd be that good as a contestant.

Ace; although he'd probably do a pretty decent "Back In The USSR"

LinS

Well it looks like Kristy Lee Cook will survive another week, JA! I thought she did pretty well.
Will someone please send Ramiele and/or Jason Castro home? Omigosh, I almost forgot to include Chikeze in the bottom three for this week.

LinS; If recent pattern of the first in the lineup going home continues, I think Ramiele is toast.

Ace

David Cook.  David Cook ruled.  That was actually stunning, and above and beyond the call of duty.  I didn't know there was a slow Billie Jean arrangemenet, and that was just amaz ok, overused word outstanding.  Kristie Lee was fine, but honestly the song doesn't demand much plus it gets people all patriotic and emotional so she could just ride it; probably a really smart choice.  Carly and Brooke and Michael were ok; I thought Carly was rushed and clipped off each verse and thought she was building it up but it never got off the ground.  Archuleta sure picked a weird song, and although delivered ok (I guess) it was just strange.  But they all ought to stay with it.

You know, I thought Chikezie really sang well, especially following Sayesha.  She did the old Adult Contemporary MOR bit, again.  He at least sounded like an authentic 70's singer.

Ramieladadingdong and Jason can take a flying leap.  Those two were so out of it they should lose by default.  I figured they seeded the competition, starting with the worst and building up.

I actually enjoyed the lack of back biting and hate and loathing between judges and them and Ryan.  Randy was critical for a change, which helped.  I just stare at Paula's blathering and wonder "what is she... drunk?" and figure probably.  She even zinged a couple, for a change.

Ace; how tall is Ramiele.. 2 feet?
