My Hi-Grade Laptop

This is my main laptop which I use at university.  It's based upon the Uniwill N340S8 v5.0 chassis, which makes it easy and cheap to find replacement parts for it; everything is generic.  It's also pretty stable, but a bit on the slow side for running Windows XP, due to a slow 4200RPM hard drive.

It's based on the single chip SiS 630S chipset which includes video, sound and network features built into a single North/South-Bridge.  The processor is a desktop Intel Celeron-S (Tualatin) 1.2GHz running on a 100MHz SDR bus.

On it's desk at university
  • Hi-Grade Notino 3400-1200A2
  • Fujitsu PS/2 keyboard - yes I know it's beige and everything else is silver, but it's so nice to type on
  • Memorex Wireless Optical mouse
  • Yamaha DP-U50 USB sound module
  • VideoLogic ZXR-500 speakers
  • Epson C42UX USB printer
  • SAGEM F@st 800 ADSL USB modem
  • Labtec USB webcam
  • Obligatory cable mess

This is what that mess of cables goes to
  • ME-320U2 USB 2.0 enclosure, with Western Digital JB series 120GB 8MB cache hard drive inside.
  • Mouse charger
  • Mini USB hub

Despite it normally having a load of peripherals plugged into it, it is also portable.... barely.  It averages around 80 minutes on battery power.
