multiple default monitor devices

Inspiron 4000
Pentium III - 851MHz
256 MG RAM
XP Prof - SP2

The problem is the screen colors being off with light blue shadows.

I went to Device Manager and found Monitors listed.
1 - is Monitors supposed to be listed on laptops Device Manager
2 - found 5 instances of Default Monitor listed

After I uninstalled 4 instances of Default Monitor the problem cleared after a few minutes.
When I reboot I find the screen problem and all 5 instances of Default Monitor back in place every time.
I haven't worked with a Laptop before only desktops.
