scuzzy

I finally bought a notebook computer - a Toshiba Satellite 5205-S503.

I picked it up on line from pcbin.com for $1670. Most other places wanted over $1800 for the same unit. FedEx 2 day added $35, and an extended 3 year Express Depot warranty from Toshiba added $198. Total damage was $1903.

The computer received top honors from a leading consumer magazine (I can't mention their name here, but you can probably guess which one), and CNET gave it good marks. The user comments were exceptionally high, too. Some of the main features are:

P4 2.0GHz Mobile
512MB RAM
40GB HDD
32MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce4 460 Go Graphics
DVD-ROM/CD-RW
15" SXGA+ screen
harmon/kardon speakers w/ built-in subwoofer
3 each USB2 ports
FireWire port
SD (Secure Digital) slot
Dolby Digital
Optional Internal Wireless
WinXP Home

The computer arrived on time, and is working flawlessly. The sound is better than anything I've ever heard on a laptop, the keyboard is nice, and the display is sweet. It is also fairly quiet.

I had compared several other models from Dell, Gateway, IBM, and Sony. In the end, no one else came close to Toshiba's offering. It's the only notebook that had everything I wanted, in a price that was reasonable.
