Title: Windows 7 Drag n Drop
Post by: scuzzy on August 30, 2009, 18:59 hrs
There is one thing that I'm beginning to hate with Windows 7.

I very often have to drag and drop from USB to hard drive, as well as hard drive to hard drive. Most of it are folders and files that have been updated and need to be backed up again.

Windows XP and Vista are fairly simple. I get a confirmation message wanting to know if I want to overwrite the files. I click yes (or whatever), and the all of the folders and files copy and overwrite with no fanfare.

Windows 7, however, goes way overboard to make sure that it is really what I want to do. Usually it first warns me that a folder already exists with that name, and I have to check a little box to confirm that I want to overwrite all other folders too. Then I get another dialog box confirming that I want to overwrite the files, and again I have to check another stupid little box to do the same with all other files. If I forget to check the stupid little box, then I get the warning dialog again. I always get a minimum of 4 confirmation clicks, sometimes more.

This is ridiculously asinine and needlessly complicates what should be a very simple process.

If anyone knows of a workaround, I'm eager to hear the solution.

I see what you mean with this and I've looked for a work around, but can't seem to find one.
