hello everyone, thanks to all the great help on this forum i finally got a router and wireless card for my laptop.  i installed everything but now i have another problem.  since the router is located on the third floor next to my desktop, the laptop with the wireless card on the first floor is receiving a "low" signal.  is there anything that i can do to boost the signal?
i'm just another helpless noob without Poasters.  i appreciate the help everyone...thank you!!!

You might want to look into either another access point, or into 802.11a wireless, which has a higher frequency and a longer range.

802.11... does that take the place of the current router?

802.11a is a higher-bandwidth standard than 802.11b, which is probably what you have - the range should be greater.
You would need a new router if yours currently can't do 802.11a, plus a new card for the PC having the signal problem, unless you now have an 802.11a or 802.11a/b/g card.
