Tbird UI changes
« on: Dec 06, 2009, 01:11 PM »
According to Mozilla, I can change the global font and size for all of the User Interface by creating a 'userChrome.css' file in my Tbird profile.  While I can create the Chome folder and a folder called userChrome.css, it will not allow me to add the necessary text either by cut and paste from Notepad or by typing in the userChrome file directly.

What am I doing wrong, or maybe better, what have I forgotten?

The required text is;
 /* Global UI font */
* { font-size: 12pt !important;
  font-family: New Times Roman !important;
}

Does anyone know what the default font and size are?

I figured it out.  Tbird places sample userChrome files in My Documents (which I don't use) and by editing the sample and moving it to my profile it had the desired effect.

Now my Tbird UI is 10pt courier, much easier to read without computer glasses!

I had saved the required text file and then forgot where I put it.  I was in search and tried "My documents' because there is nothing else in there.  My own docs are on a separate partition.  Dumb luck.
BTW, the sample .css files contain several possible tweaks you might want to look at before you start.

You same use it for both!  Same way just use the FF profile folder.
