Some Wal-Mart customers will soon be able to sample a new discount item, Wal-Mart's own brand of wine.

The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-5 range.

Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart wine into their shopping carts, but "there is a market for inexpensive wine" said a professor of marketing at University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. "The right name is important."

So, here we go...the top suggested names for Wal-Mart Wine:

11.  Chateau Traileur Parc
10.  White Trashfindel
9.    Big Red Gulp
8.    Grape Expectations
7.    NAS CARbernet
6.    Chef Boyardeaux
5.    Peanut Noir
4.    Chateau des Moines
3.    I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2.    World Championship Riesling

And the number 1 name for Wal-Mart Wine ..

1.    Nasti Spumante

The beauty of the Wal-Mart brand of wine is that it can be served with either white meat (Possum) or red meat (Spam), or it can be mixed with beer as a delightful cooler.   :D
I'm at that awkward stage...somewhere between the young and the restless, and the old and the senseless.   ;)

Oh, Karen.  Bravo...

I am ROTFLMAOOIHMHBIDC.

I have to agree - there definitely is a market for inexpensive wine.  I am it.

A big, shining gold star for that one.

The only problem with the inexpensive wine market is that prime vintages change as often as the weekly sales circular.

Bill; you do save the cost of cork screws.

Hey; are there Wal Marts in England?  If so, I offer my sincere apologies...

If you get a carton of wine at a restaurant, do you get to sniff the box..?  Whenever someone asks "Are you free?" I answer "I may be cheap, but I'm not free..."

You know, when we were newlyweds we used to get a jug of Carlo Rossi wine.  or Lancer's Rose, if we were really getting uppity.  My mom used to drink MD.  I would have a little with 7 Up for Christmas, as a treat.

Good job, Karen.  This just might be enough for me to start drinking again.

There's gotta be a Blonde - Wal-Mart wine joke somewhere in this...

Now it's much more economical to get drunk!

Wine is just grape juice and yeast anyways

Geez Louise Cars, that had to be a record for "Longest Time After a Poast to Respond To A Poast After A Considerable Time Had Passed."  Hope you weren't passed out for a month and a half and just came to...

Anyway, as Buff knows, wine is way more than just grape juice and yeast.  It takes time and sulfites to make a fine wine.  Plus, a cork or one of those weird plastic-like ones.  And a label.  With a warning not to get pregnant after having drunk it while driving heavy machinery.  Oh, and an upcharge if your name is Coppola or Greg Norman, as opposed to M. David.

Ace; I never knew anyone named "Mogen" unless that was one of those guys in "Lord of the Rings."

There are no Wal Marts in England, as such.  Wal-Mart does own the supermarket chain ASDA though, and some of the very largest stores are known as ASDA-Wal Mart.  I believe they are the second-largest supermarket chain in the UK, behind Tesco.

Tesco has just started selling a rather handy 1.5 litre bottle of Merlot - just Ã?£5 ($9.95).  A great idea as it saves opening two bottles......

Buff; Cheers!
