A Way to Improve Windows OS Registration

I am not one who thinks that Microsoft should just spend untold millions of dollars to develop an OS and then throw it to the wind and say, "Here, everyone.  You can freely distribute this OS to anyone and use it on as many computers as you want."  There are, of course, many who would like that; but demanding that anyone freely give what has cost so dearly to produce is stupid and selfish, just as we are also seeing from the big MS.

I came up with something that Microsoft could do to free up bottlenecks in re-re-re-activation and to improve public opinion of Microsoft:

1)   Have the owner of the OS register with his current address on secure, password protected form page that would be stored by Microsoft with registration confirmation emailed by Microsoft to the current email address of the licensee to confirm that registration.
2)   Allow up to three computers per licensed installation disk, and have the mobo serial numbers detected and stored at MS and included in the email for verification.  This hard copy would be a backup against any possible illicit intrusion into the account.
3)   Allow the owner of the OS to change out any or all systems at any time as long as he updated the information in his personal secure online information data storage.
4)   Microsoft would, of course, monitor any account changes and send an immediate email regarding any change so the consumer would be protected and Microsoft assured of no hacking activity.  A small time delay between data corrections could be inserted into the detection program to reduce hacking or any inordinate activity until licensee could be notified.

This procedure would still guarantee Microsoft control but would also free up the installation stinginess and increase customer appreciation.  It would also make switching out systems much easier and remove the hassle of forbidden re-activation on an "unauthorized" unit.  The new computer could be used to access the customer account and make needed changes to permit continued use of the license on the newly introduced replacement.  The one thing that the computer owner would need to do is to remove the mobo serial number from his data base on MS if he sells the mobo to someone or simply stops using it.

Microsoft would still profit by limiting licenses and by not constantly trying to find pirated software that was destroying potential profit.

Maybe I am missing something here, but is this just way too easy and practical?
