Light Scribe Software

I am confused on this one.  Do Light Scribe capable DVD burners have the software as part of the firmware, or is it separate?  My Samsung is Light Scribe capable, but I don't have the discs and have never experimented with the option.

No, it's not part of the firmware. The software is separate. Newer versions of Roxio and Nero should support Light Scribe. My Samsung came with Nero, and it does the job well enough for me. You can get more info here: LightScribe.com

I think I was confused because of an ad that stated that Light Scribe software was included but then made no such statement in the actual drive expanded information, as is the usual norm.  Thanks.
